Specialized Services

Short Hills Associates in Clinical Psychology provides an array of specialized services designed to meet the needs of children, adolescents and adults.

Preschool Evaluation

Our licensed psychologists conduct school observations, parent and teacher interviews as well as diagnostic play therapy sessions to assisst readiness for Kindergarten. These evaluations also assist preschool teachers in the development of the most effective means of teaching the child both educationally and emotionally.

Psychological Evaluations

Our psychologists administer a complete battery of Psychological tests so as to evaluate intelligence, academic achievement as well as memory and learning styles. These tests also help to identify emotional factors that may impede performance or effect behavior.

Consultations

Our professional staff offers consultations with parents and schools when there are questions about a child’s behavior, school performance or social relationships. Parent counseling is available for a variety of issues related to a child’s behavior and/or developmental level. Consultations are also provided as second opinions when a child or adolescent is currently in treatment with another therapist.

Group Therapy

Adult and adolescent group therapy is available in addition to our KIDSGROUP program. Psychologists trained in group psychotherapy conduct weekly adult groups that address relationship issues and weekly adolescent groups that address developmental as well as social issues.

Independent Medical Examinations (IME)

Independent Medical Evaluations are performed when requested by either an insurance company or an individual usually to assist in determining the appropriateness and/or effectiveness of treatment.
