Barry Helfmann: PsyD

Dr. Helfmann is a Senior Partner at Short Hills Associates. He is a licensed psychologist who has provided consultations and therapeutic services to adults, couples, groups and teenagers for over 35 years.
He has previously been managing partner at Short Hills Associates in Clinical Psychology. He served as Director of Professional Affairs for the New Jersey Psychological Association 2005-2017.

He was awarded Psychologist of the Year from the New Jersey Psychological Association and their life- time achievement award in 2015. He was elected President on NJPA and elected President of the American Group Psychotherapy Association in 2018. He was awarded Distinguished Fellow in 2012 from the American Group Psychotherapy Association.

Dr. Helfmann has lectured and written widely on professional practice for mental health providers, ethics, and future health care trends.

Jessica Auth, Ph. D

Dr. Jessica Auth is a Senior Associate at Short Hills Associates, and has been with the practice since 2009.

Dr. Auth received her Masters degrees and Doctorate from Columbia University. She completed externship trainings at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx and at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan, working with children, adolescents, and families. She completed her clinical internship at Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, working on inpatient units, in the psychiatric ER, and in the outpatient department. Her post-doctoral year was in neuropsychological assessment and remediation. Once licensed, Dr. Auth became the Clinical Director at a day program for young adults in Brooklyn, and later joined the outpatient psychiatry team at Lincoln Medical Center in the Bronx before moving to New Jersey and joining Short Hills Associates.
 
Dr. Auth has extensive experience in individual, group, and family treatment of children, adolescents, and adults. She has been running adolescent groups for many years as part of the TAG (Therapeutic Adolescent Groups) program in the practice. She uses psychodynamic and family systems theories to conceptualize cases, and employs cognitive-behavioral and insight-oriented techniques as appropriate. Dr. Auth enjoys making connections with her patients, and within a strong therapeutic relationship, helps patients to move forward by creating and achieving their treatment goals.
